Welcome to another Thriveabetes interview. Today I'm with Aisling White, from Cork but now living in Limerick. Aisling was diagnosed with diabetes at age 13 months old, she is now a primary school teacher and is one of two Irish representatives on the International Diabetes Federations's IDF Youth Leadership Lab.
Part 1
We talk about diagnosis, growing up with diabetes, family support, the teen years where Aisling became increasingly frustrated with the care she was receiving through her appointments.
Part 2
In part 2 we pick up at Aisling’s college years and an accidental meeting that changed her diabetes outlook and care dramatically, finding the local support group and paying it forward in terms of advocating for diabetes services nationally. We also talk about her new role in the International Diabetes Federation’s Young Leadership Lab
