There is a lot of interest from the adults with type 1 diabetes groups in learning more about how to manage exercise with type 1. An excellent opportunity to do that is to attend the Animas Sports Weekend. It takes place in Loughborough University, north east of London and 7 miles from the East Midlands Airport on the 8th and 9th of October. Registration opens this Monday August 1st. The Animas Sports Weekend has been happening for a number of years now and is really popular. So much so, that they have organised a second weekend this year. It has been attended by a number of the Animas Heroes and has been blogged about widely.
Participation is open to people with Type 1 diabetes resident in the UK/ROI aged 18 and over only. There are only 50 places available and will be allocated to newcomers on a first come, first served basis to ensure everyone gets a chance to experience the fun, active weekend. Tickets cost are £150 and this includes:
- Participation in plenary and exercise workshops - Meals, unlimited tea/coffee, refreshments and sweets - Car parking - Accommodation - Unlimited use of leisure facilities
All attendees need to do is pack their insulin and gym kit, and they’ll be ready to enjoy a great weekend full of fun. You can find out lots more from the Animas Sports Weekend webpage. Registration opens on August 1 and fills up really fast.
