What is Thriveabetes?

Thriveabetes is a one-day conference organised by people living with type 1 diabetes, for people living with type 1 diabetes. It aims to bring people with diabetes together to share experiences of living with this lifelong chronic condition, so that no person with diabetes feels alone!

It features three programmes, with 11 sessions provided by expert speakers and panellists, as well as a Diabetes Technology Exhibition with many of the CGM, Insulin Pump and device accessories companies.

Early Bird Tickets to Thriveabetes 2026 go on Sale in August 2025

The cost of the Thriveabetes Events is partially funded through corporate sponsorship and education grants (60%). The remaining cost (40%) of this event is covered by income from ticket sales.

Ticket Types and Pricing:

  • General Ticket Price: €50 (for Adults, Parent/Guardian, Teenagers)

  • Early Bird Tickets: Go on sale as a back-to-school special, from late August until September 30.

  • What's included in the ticket price:

  • Lunch and refreshments

  • Admission to all sessions

  • Access to the exhibition

Ticket sales end: midnight on Thursday, April 15.

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations will be issued up to midnight on Thursday, April 15. Requests for refunds after midnight on Thursday, April 15, will not be refunded.

  • The Crowne Plaza Dublin Airport has a secure multi-storey car park with space for over 300 cars, ensuring easy and hassle-free parking in the Dublin Airport area.

    Parking at a charge €10 per day

  • The Crowne Plaza Dublin Airport is not directly accessible by Train or Luas, however it is possible to transfer from a train to a Dublin Bus route to bring you to the venue.

    The bus stop closest to the Crowne Plaza Dublin Airport is Santry Close / Northwood Plaza.

    Dublin Airport Shuttle Service

    The Crowne Plaza operates a 24hr complimentary Airport Shuttle Bus that runs every 30 minutes to and from Zone 16 in the Coach Park. Please follow the signs for Zone 16/Coach Park from either Terminal.

    Traveling by bus or coach:

    There are no direct routes to the Crowne Plaza Dublin Airport, however, it is possible to take a bus to:

    • Dublin airport and transfer to the hotel shuttle (see the list of bus services available throughout Ireland on Dublin Aiport’s website here, or  

    • Take a Bus Eireann bus to Busarus and transfer to Dublin Bus.

  • There is a Special Delegate Rate for Thriveabetes attendees available for both Friday and Saturday nights (April 17 and 18).

  • Thirveabetes is for people living with, or affected by Type 1 Diabetes and insulin dependant forms of diabetes.

    This includes but is not limited to:

    • Adults with Type 1 Diabetes or LADA (Latent Autoimmune Diabetes in Adults)

    • Adults with all types of diabetes who are insulin independent (eg 3 or more insulin injections per day)

    • Partners, spouses, friends, relatives, and significant others of individuals with Type 1 diabetes

    • Parents / guardians / carers of children or young people with Type 1 diabetes

    • Young adults and teenagers aged 16 and upwards) With Type 1 diabetes, we have created specific programmes for you around doing the Leaving Cert, going to college, going on holidays or just out with your friends or starting in the world of employment.

    • Healthcare professionals working with Type 1 diabetes - We encourage diabetes healthcare professionals to attend Thriveabetes as a learning experience.
